Overdraft Protection

We offer free overdraft protection on checking accounts to help you avoid the hassle of overdraft fees. If you accidentally overdraw your account, available funds from your Savings account will automatically cover the shortfall, without letting your balance drop below the required $25 minimum. For added protection, you can opt into overdraft coverage from your Money Market or Asset Account, but enrollment is required. Please note that Regulation D limitations may apply. Refer to our current schedule of charges for more details.

Courtesy Pay

We've all had those moments, at the checkout line, in a restaurant, or even on the side of the road, where we realize our payment has been declined. Courtesy Pay is designed to protect you from these situations.

This service acts as a safety net when your account balance runs low, ensuring that your transactions clear even when other funds are unavailable. Although a non-sufficient funds charge may apply, Courtesy Pay offers:

  • Help to cover unexpected expenses
  • Provides uninterrupted coverage when funds are insufficient
  • Eliminates the embarrassment of a declined transaction
  • Continues coverage after other overdraft options are exhausted

*There is a per item fee each time an item is paid through Courtesy Pay (see Fee Schedule). The cost is based on your membership tier with a maximum fee of $38 and a minimum fee of $32 per use. There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account. Courtesy Pay is automatically activated after your checking account is opened for the following types of transactions: checks and other transactions made using your checking account number and automatically drafted payments (ACH). We do not authorize and pay overdrafts utilizing Courtesy Pay for debit card or ATM signature-based transactions, unless you opt-in for this service. While items may be paid, misuse of this service will result in termination of services. This means we do not guarantee we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction when there is not enough money available in your checking or designated overdraft protection accounts to cover the item. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. If we authorize and pay an overdraft, it must be repaid within 30 days.

Direct Deposit / Payroll Deduction

With Direct Deposit, your paycheck is automatically credited to your account each pay period, making your funds instantly available. Payroll Deduction allows portions of your paycheck to be automatically deposited into the Guardians CU accounts of your choice.

Automatic Payments & Transfers

Simplify your financial routine with Automatic Payments and Transfers. These services automatically deduct funds from your accounts to pay Guardians CU loans or transfer money between accounts at the end of each month.
